Master Energy Conservation with Barrier Sciences Group

At its roots, BSG assists with many different forms of energy conservation for the building industry. Through training, experience, and access to the right equipment, our registered energy advisors are able to help reduce the energy use of any residential, commercial, industrial, or institutional building.

Mastering Energy Conservation with an EnerGuide Label

Using BSG’s incremental approach to deep energy retrofits, our energy advisors provide our customers with the most effective and cost-friendly approach to energy efficiency improvements. This means that retrofits and upgrades are done in stages, so that any new upgrades can play off the benefits of a previous one. Additionally, our advisors can identify and suggest the most cost-effective upgrade during each incremental stage of the deep energy retrofit process. This is what makes BSG leaders of energy conservation in the building industry.

No matter the approach, it should always start with receiving an EnerGuide label from a Registered Energy Advisor. It provides a clear path to mastering energy conservation in your home. From windows to doors, from the insulation in your walls and the furnace that heats your home, an EnerGuide label breaks it down for you in numbers that you understand. Our energy advisors are always there to help explain everything along the way. Let us be your home renovation experts when you place high importance on energy conservation.

Conserving Hydroelectric Energy

To conserve hydroelectric energy in any type of building, the first step is to have an energy assessmentdone, as it identifies the current rate of energy consumption. It also identifies the areas where energy consumption could be most cost-effectively improved. During the assessment, our energy advisors use multiple different technologies, such as computerized energy modeling and building design, to help them get the most accurate energy analysis possible.

After the energy assessment, a list of suggestions detailing how to improve the building’s energy efficiency is drafted by our team of energy advisors, and ranked in terms of each suggestion’s cost-effectiveness. Since all of our customers receive a personalized assessment, it means that there is no cookie-cutter list of suggestions for improving energy efficiency and conserving hydroelectric energy.

By following the list of suggestions included in their energy assessment, our customers can target their building’s problem areas directly, and conserve hydroelectric energy in the most cost-effective manner possible. This may mean making changes such as: switching high-use lights over to LEDs, adding timers to bathroom fans etc. that are often left-on, or replacing an inefficient appliance with a more energy efficient one.

Home Heating Oil & Natural Gas Conservation

Here at BSG, reducing energy use for our customers in the building industry is our top priority. Whether its a multi unit residential building, an industrial factory, or a family home, our energy advisors can help reduce energy use through building envelope analysis, leading to deep energy retrofits.

By analyzing the energy performance of an entire building, our energy advisors can identify current problems, problems that are likely to occur in the future, and areas where the biggest improvements could be made for the lowest upfront cost.

This means that upgrades to help conserve home heating oil or natural gas can be completed without hassle or guesswork regarding their benefits. In many cases, airtightness and insulation play the most significant role in oil / natural gas conservation. With BSG’s thermal imaging technology, blower door tests, and computerized energy modeling, air leaks and spots of insufficient insulation are easily located and evaluated to find an affordable solution pathway.

Reduce Airborne Pollutants

The less energy that is consumed, the less pollution that is released into the atmosphere. This means that as a building owner reduces their building’s energy use, so too do they reduce the amount of airborne pollutants that their building releases. To reduce energy use and help conserve energy, building owners should have the energy performance of their building analyzed with an energy assessment, and air leaks identified with a blower door test

With the information provided in an energy assessment, retrofits can be conducted towards many different goals, such as: lowering pollution, lowering utility costs, qualifying for incentive programs, and many others. By improving the energy efficiency of a building, the amount of airborne pollutants that the building releases will decline; by providing our customers with a comprehensive and customized energy assessment, BSG looks to make deep energy retrofits straightforward, effective, and commonplace within the building industry.
