Barrier Sciences Group Supports Mandatory Energy Labels in Climate Change Action Plan

Starting in 2019, Ontario’s Climate Change Action Plan will introduce mandatory energy labelling of all homes for sale. Beginning in 2017, the Government plans to boost public access to climate change tools to reduce carbon emissions.
The mandatory energy audits required for energy labelling will be funded through the Greenhouse gas reduction account, and provided free to Ontarians.
Homeowners Canada-wide are eligible for the Canada Greener Homes Grant, announced on May 27, 2021. This new incentive offers up to $5,000 in grants for home efficiency retrofit renovations, plus a $600 reimbursement for pre- and post-work EnerGuide evaluations. Eligible retrofit scopes include home insulation, heating, doors, windows, photovoltaic solar panels, resiliency measures, and thermostats.
